Leading stainless steel manufacturer Jindal Stainless has placed a Rs 230 crore worth work order with logistics service provider Western Carriers. The company has signed a contract for a period of three years for the transportation of its cargo from manufacturing facilities to ports.
According to an exchange filing by Western Carriers, the company will provide Jindal Stainless with the EXIM (Export-Import) logistic solutions. The company will transport Jindal Stainless’s cargo containers, via rail transportation, from different ports to the Jajpur manufacturing facility and vice versa.
“Managing JSL’s vast and complex supply chain seamlessly further reflects our ability to handle mission-critical operations with precision”, Rajendra Sethia, Chairman & Managing Director of Western Carriers, said in a statement.
Jindal Stainless capacity expansion
Jindal Stainless is increasing its production capacity through the expansion of its existing manufacturing facilities, setting up greenfield facilities, as well as acquisitions and joint ventures.
Jindal Stainless is looking to set up a massive greenfield facility in Maharashtra. The company is aiming to invest Rs 40000 crore in the projects, says an ET report. The Maharashtra facility is expected to have a melting capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum. The project is expected to be completed in the next 10 years, with the first phase operations expected to commence in 4 years.
Further, Jindal Stainless is expanding its Jajpur, Orissa, manufacturing facility. Earlier, the company said that it had set aside Rs 1900 crore for capacity expansion. Additionally, the company also set aside Rs 1450 crore to upgrade its infrastructure facilities and railway sidings.
