The demand for air conditioners is likely to jump 20-25% this year as compared to the previous year, a senior official of Samsung India said on Tuesday.
Talking to FE, Ghufran Alam, Vice President, Digital Appliances Business at Samsung India said that the AC industry has been growing at a CAGR of 20-25% for the last five years.
“We expect similar growth this year as well,” he said, adding that the company has already seen doubling of AC demand in the January-March quarter.
AC companies have been increasing their production capacity, expecting a jump in demand due to early summers. For instance, Blue Star is investing Rs 400 crore this year to expand its capacity.
Haier has announced a fresh investment of around Rs 800 crore to expand its capacity.
Samsung India manufactures ACs at its Chennai facility and sells online and offline through its network of retail stores and distributors. On orders through its website, the company is offering 48-hour delivery.
The company on Tuesday also introduced a 19 new AC models, 17 out of which were AI-enabled. These had features like AI energy mode and Bespoke AI Windfree.
