Big boost for Railways sector in recent days – Several key companies have bagged multiple large ordes. These orders span across high-speed rail contracts to bullet train project. Focus is on Larsen & Turbo. The capital Goods major bagged ‘large’ orders. That apart RVNL, Temaco Rails have also won some big orders.

A look at major order win in September so far – 

L&T bags large bullet train project package

Larsen & Toubro’s Transportation Infrastructure division has won the “large” contract, valued between Rs 2,500–5,000 crore, from the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL). The project covers 156 route km of ballastless track on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, spanning both underground and elevated sections. 

With this, L&T now commands over 50% of the track work on India’s first bullet train project, which will use Japanese Shinkansen J Slab Track technology.

RVNL emerges lowest bidder for Rs 1,694.9 crore electrification project

Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) has emerged as the lowest bidder for a Rs 1,694.9 crore contract floated by West Central Railway. The project includes design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of traction substations, switching posts, and SCADA work on the Bina–RTA section of the Bhopal division. The project has the targete to be completed within 540 days. It will help Indian Railways handle higher freight volumes and strengthen network efficiency.

RailTel bags Rs 574.9 crore Bihar order

RailTel Corporation of India has secured a Rs 574.9 crore contract from the Bihar State Educational Infrastructure Development Corporation (BSEIDC). The project involves setting up hybrid smart classrooms and ICT labs across colleges and universities in the state under the PM-USHA (Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) scheme. The work, aimed at enhancing higher education infrastructure, is expected to be completed by March 16, 2026.

Texmaco Rail secures Rs129 crore Nagpur order

Texmaco Rail has bagged a Rs 129.09 crore order from  Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) for electrification works on the Yavatmal–Digras section of Nagpur Division in Central Railways. The project covers the design, erection, testing, and commissioning of traction overhead equipment (OHE). It is scheduled for completion within 18 months from it has been awarded. The contract involves the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of 2×25 kV traction overhead equipment (OHE) and associated activities.

Jupiter Wagons subsidiary bags Rs 113 crore order from Railways

Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory, an unlisted subsidiary of Jupiter Wagons (JWL), has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the Ministry of Railways for the supply of 9,000 LHB axles for FIAT-IR bogies. The order, valued at Rs 113 crore, was issued on September 9.

The precision-engineered axles will be used in high-speed LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches, enhancing performance, safety and durability.

BHEL bags Rs 22.9 crore order from Indian Railways for Kavach project

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has secured an order worth Rs 22.87 crore, from Indian Railways (South Western Railway) for the installation of Kavach, an indigenous automatic train protection system. Kavach is developed by Indian Railways to enhance safety and prevent collisions.

BHEL received the Letter of Intent on September 11. and is targeted tobe completed within 18 months. The equipment will be manufactured at BHEL’s Bengaluru plant. 

The project involves the design, development, supply, installation, trial, and commissioning of on-board Kavach equipment in locomotives and trackside Kavach equipment at stations, level crossings, intermediate block sections, and automatic block signaling locations.
