Tata Consultancy Services is betting big on AI, in sync with the India AI Mission by the Government. TCS, being the largest information technology company in India, has announced strategic plans and investments to lead the next technology revolution in India and be among the world’s largest AI-led tech companies. 

The India AI Mission, which lays special emphasis on the development of AI and data centres by private companies, has a budget outlay of Rs 10,371 crore. TCS’s announcement of building a massive 1 GW capacity data centre is in line with this broader vision.

Here are the 3 major initiatives taken by TCS to become the world’s largest AI-led technology company.  

1.TCS AI-first approach 

Tata Consultancy Services is heavily investing in the development of artificial intelligence. The company is integrating AI across its services, including BFSI, consumer, retail, and more. The company is particularly stressing upon integration of AI Agents across its platforms. 

K Krithivasan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of TCS, stated on Thursday that the company is on a journey to become the world’s largest AI-led technology services company. 

“The investments, including the building of a world-class AI infrastructure business, demonstrate our commitment to this transformation,” Krithivasan said. 

2. TCS launches new entity for AI infrastructure development

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced that it is establishing a new business entity to develop a world-class artificial intelligence infrastructure in India. The company said that it will build a massive 1 GW capacity data centre. 

Earlier in the second quarter, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to accelerate the development of India’s sovereign cloud ecosystem.

TCS said that it aims to deliver scalable and AI-enabled cloud platforms that align with India’s data localisation mandates and support the digital transformation of critical public sector services. 

3. Global partnerships

In a step toward developing AI products, TCS recently partnered with Qualcomm to establish the TCS Innovation Lab. Under the partnership, TCS and Qualcomm will co-create smart, scalable, and sustainable Edge AI capabilities utilising Qualcomm platforms for industries.

TCS has made similar partnerships with other major AI innovation companies and institutes to co-create AI solutions. One such partnership is with CEA, the world’s most innovative research institution for physical AI solutions, to develop AI applications for physical artificial intelligence, such as robotics.
