Financial Express Online on Thursday organised the third edition of the FE Healthcare Summit. The event was marked by the presence of over 150 industry leaders and more than 25 key speakers.
The FE Healthcare Summit 2024 became an opportunity for the leaders of the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors to build relationships with one whole of day networking opportunity and it included six insightful sessions highlighting various aspects of the sectors.
The first session, The first session, ‘Panel on Pharma: Prescription for change; the new growth drivers’, highlighted new approaches to address the changing disease profiles and growing lifestyle disease burden.
The session included eminent leaders like Dr Sharvil P. Patel, Managing Director, Zydus Lifesciences, Satish Reddy, Chairman, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Dr. Krishna M Ella, co-founder and Executive Chairman, Bharat Biotech International, and Priyanka Chigurupati, Executive Director, Granules India.
The session was moderated by E Kumar Sharma, Deputy Editor, FE Digital, The Indian Express Group. During this session, the panelists talked about India’s potential as a global innovation hub and they also highlighted the country’s scope and need for a conducive regulatory ecosystem.
The second session was a special address by by Dr. B Srinivas, Secretary, National Medical Commission (NMC) on the topic ‘Quantity to Quality Journey’.
During the address, Dr. Srinivas highlighted that it is important to maintain the quality of medical education.
After the networking tea break, the third session, the third session, ‘Sustainability: Beyond Green Chemistry’ was conducted and it highlighted how it is becoming imperative for the pharmaceutical companies to hospitals to think green.
The session included speakers like Sanjay Kumar, Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer, Granules India, Dr. K. Madan Gopal, Advisor, Public Health Administration, NHSRC, MoHFW, and Raj Shankar Ghosh, Advisor, Centre for Environmental Health, Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI). The session was moderated by Dr Rajib Dasgupta, Professor (Community Health), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
During the session, the panelists warned about the impact of climate change and how there is a need to prioritise sustainable approaches.
After the lunch break, the fourth session, ‘Diagnostics: Changing competition landscape & new imperatives’, and it focused on new waves in the diagnostics industry. The session included speakers like Dr Sushil Shah, chairman & executive director, Metropolis Healthcare, Anand K, Chief Executive Officer, Agilus Diagnostics, and (Hon.) Brig. Dr. Arvind Lal Padma Shri, Executive Chairman, Dr Lal PathLabs Ltd.
The session was moderated by Roshun Povaiah, Editor, FE Digital, The Indian Express Group.
During this session, the panelists discussed how technology can be leveraged and how the diagnostics sector is undergoing profound transformation.
After the insightful fourth session, a special address was given by by Ganji Kamala V Rao, Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on the topic ‘Illness to Wellness’.
During his adress, Rao explained the importance of food fortification.
The final session, ‘‘Hospitals: Ideas that will shape the future of healthcare’ highlighted how the integrated healthcare landscape change.
The session included speakers like Dr BS Ajaikumar, Executive Chairman, HealthCare Global Enterprises, Dr Kaushal Verma, Dean, AIIMs, New Delhi, Pankaj Prakash Sahani, Group CEO & director, Medanta, and Dr Atul Mohan Kochhar, CEO, NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers). The session was moderated by E Kumar Sharma, Deputy Editor, FE Digital, The Indian Express Group.
The panelists emphasised that there is a need to bridge the gap between rich and poor and make the accessibility of healthcare facilities uniform.
The third edition of FE Healthcare Summit came to an end with a ‘Vote of Thanks’ address by E Kumar Sharma, Deputy Editor, FE Digital, The Indian Express Group and reiterated some of the key takeways from each panel and expressed gratitude to all the speakers and guests.
