WinZO has announced the withdrawal of its impacted offerings starting August 22, 2025, in compliance with the new Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025.

Calling the moment a “defining juncture” for the industry, the company stated, “The choices we make today will shape how government and industry collaborate, how young entrepreneurs dream, and how global investors continue to believe in Indian innovation.”

About WinZO

Launched in 2018, WinZO has grown into a platform serving over 250 million users, offering 100+ games in 15 languages developed by third-party creators worldwide. The company positioned itself as an alternative to “restrictive app store monopolies,” giving developers direct access to Indian and global markets.

Over the years, the platform claims to have nurtured an ecosystem of 75,000 creators producing vernacular gaming content while attracting marquee investors such as Kalaari Capital, Griffin Gaming Partners, Makers Fund, and Steve Pagliuca, Co-Chair of Bain Capital and early investor in Epic Games.

‘Aligned with National Goals’

The company asserted its commitment to abide by the law of the land while continuing to “fuel India’s digital journey.” “WinZO remains steadfast and united, with the unqualified and absolute support of our partners, investors, and the team. We stay aligned with national goals, move faster, and continue to create value for all stakeholders,” the statement read.

Emphasising integrity and user safety, WinZO said that every feature on the platform had been built with an ethos of “responsibility, innovation, and nation-building.” The company also expressed gratitude to its employees, partners, and investors for their resilience and trust.

To its 250 million users, the gaming platform assured continued innovation: “Your trust and love are our greatest reward. Together, with our community of creators, partners, and supporters, we will continue to build, innovate, and represent India on the global stage. The best is yet to come.”

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, seeks to introduce a uniform regulatory framework for online gaming in India. It replaces the earlier patchwork of state-level rules, aiming to curb addictive gaming patterns and protect consumer interests. The law eliminates the traditional skill-versus-chance distinction, banning all real money gaming.
