Turtle Ltd, maker of men’s apparel under its namesake brand, is planing to expand its footprint to Saudi Arabia by opening two outlets in the current fiscal, Amit Ladsaria, director of the company, said here on Tuesday.

“We have presence in Dubai, Muscat, Kuwait and the Fiji Islands. Now we want to step into Saudi Arabia,” he said. Turtle has 12 outlets in these countries and the plan is to establish a strong foothold in the West Asia within a few years, said Ladsaria.

The company plans to open 75 outlets across the country by 2010. Twelve of them will come up in Kolkata. The expansion would entail an investment of Rs 15 crore, Ladsaria said.

Present in 380 cities across the country, the company exports its products to seven countries, mostly in the West Asia. According to Ladsaria, revenues from export are only

4-5% of the total turnover since the company has started exporting from 2007 only.

The total turnover during the previous fiscal was around Rs 48 crore and the target is

to achieve Rs 78 crore this fiscal.

Ladsaria, who was here to launch Turtle’s festive collection of shirts and trousers priced between Rs 795 and Rs 1,495, said the company would launch denim trousers during the pujas. The trousers will cost between Rs 995 and Rs 1495. Turtle also has plans to include suits and jackets to its product portfolio.
