Sun Pharmaceuticals has posted net profit of Rs 722.8 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2008 as compared to Rs 222.26 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2007. Total income has increased from Rs 659.84 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 to Rs 1312.74 croe for the quarter ended March 31, 2008. A strong growth in the US generic drug sales helped the company achieve 225% Q4 profit. For the Year ended March 31, 2008, the group has posted a net profit of Rs 1486.9 crore as compared to Rs 784.27 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007. Total income has increased from Rs 2378.35 crore to Rs 3501.66 crore.

The Sun Pharma stock was up 1.03% to close at Rs 1,402.90 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday. The stock had fallen 5% on Thursday, as investors reacted to the news of termination of Sun’s merger with Israel’s Taro.
