The Prime Minister tried to associate Gujarat in his press conference to wash off the stains on himself. This is the joke of the year 2011. This is laughable, said Modi.
In a veiled reference to former Gujarat minister Amit Shah during his interaction with TV editors on Wednesday, Singh said the Opposition-led states did not wish to cooperate with the centres attempt to usher in a single goods and service tax (GST). Frankly, I cannot mention the given reasons in public. They say because you have taken some decision against a particular person, who was a minister in Gujarat, we must reverse it, he said.
Reacting to the PMs allegation, Modi said, Gujarat has cleared its stand on GST since the beginning. I told finance minister Pranab Mukherjee that we cannot implement GST before creating a nationwide IT network for it. He instructed his staff members to form a task force for implementation of information and technology network in the country. But there has been no progress so far. I challenge the PM to make the minutes of the GST empowerment committee public and let the people know what suggestions Gujarat and other states have made in the last two years.
