Infosys Technologies Ltd has commenced work on its second campus at Pocharam SEZ in Hyderabad. Set up with an investment of Rs 1,250 crore, the facility is expected to be the largest Infosys campus worldwide after completion. An MoU towards this was signed with the Andhra Pradesh government in May 2007.
Spread over 447 acres, the campus is expected to seat over 25,000 people and will be completed over 10 years. The facility, which will have a seating capacity of 10,000 people and an initial investment of Rs 600 crore, is being developed in three phases spread over three years. Work for the first phase has just begun and is expected to be completed in the next 10 months, NR Narayana Murthy, Infosys chief mentor and chairman of the board, said.
Confirming that the company?s expansions would happen only in SEZs, Murthy said company has set aside Rs 1,200 crore this year for expanding in Chandigarh, Pune, Mangalore, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Jaipur and Gurgaon.
