Castrol India Ltd has posed a net profit increase of 26% at Rs 82.8 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, as compared to Rs 65.9 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. The company, which is considered the largest lubricant company in the retail automotive segment, has posted a growth of 15% in its sales at Rs 621.4 crore as against Rs 540.1 crore. Meanwhile, the shares of the company last traded at Rs 290.90, up 1.61% at the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday. Commenting on the results, Naveen Kshatriya, managing director of the company said, “Castrol India has achieved a record performance in this quarter as a result of higher volumes, improved price realisation to recover sharply escalating cost of goods, and better procurement. The fact that our customers continued to patronise our products in the face of rapidly increasing product prices, only vindicates strong brand preference and the superior customer value we offer.”
Prime Focus net up by 7.83%
Prime Focus, one of the leading integrated entertainment technology companies, has posted a net profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 10.21 crore in the quarter that ended on June 30 2008, which is 7.83% over the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Revenue for the quarter was Rs 84.94 crore, a growth of 47.52 % over the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
Pyramid Saimira net up Rs 13.49 crore
Pyramid Saimira Theatre Limited (PSTL), the movie exhibition and distribution arm of the Pyramid Saimira Group, has posted a net profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 13.49 crore in the quarter that ended on June 30, 2008. The revenue of the company stands at Rs 250 crore, as compared to Rs 122 crore for the same period last year.
Opto Circuits Q1 PAT up 61%
Consolidated profit after tax of Opto Circuits (India) Ltd for the current quarter stood at Rs 44.99 crore, as against Rs 27.81 crore for the corresponding period in the previous year, higher by 61.77%. Consolidated sales of the group stood at Rs 177.37 crore for the quarter, as against Rs 96.50 crore, an increase of 83.80%.
Aptech posts 65% growth
Aptech Ltd announced its stand-alone result. The company posted a growth of 65% in its net profit to Rs 2.7 crore for the second quarter ended June 30, 2008, as compared to Rs 1.6 crore during the corresponding quarter last year. The company also reported an increase 18% in its revenue to Rs 28.4 crore for the quarter, as compared to Rs 24 crore during the corresponding quarter previous year.
Cognizant Tech posts increase of 26%
Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation posted an increase of 26% in its net profit to $103.9 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2008. The company also posted an increase of 33% in its revenue to $685.4 million for the quarter as compared to $516.5 million during the corresponding quarter previous year.
Vakrangee Soft net jumps 96%
Vakrangee Softwares Ltd posted an increase of 96.41% in its net profit to Rs 10.94 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, as compared to Rs 5.57 crore during the corresponding quarter previous year.
The company also posted an increase of 86.76% in its total to Rs 61.31 crore for the quarter as compared to Rs 32.86 crore during the corresponding quarter previous year.
Ess Dee Aluminium Q1 net up 31%
Ess Dee Aluminium Ltd, a pharma packaging solutions major, on Friday announced its results for the quarter ended June 30, 2008. The company reported a growth of 31.43% in its net profit to Rs 21.40 crore from Rs 16.28 crore in Q1FY08. The company?s revenues for the quarter stood at Rs 107.05 crore, as compared to Rs 74.05 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. It’s EPS improved to Rs 7.69 from Rs 6.17, the company informed.
Everest Kanto net up 57%
Everest Kanto Cylinder Ltd (EKC), a player in high-pressure gas cylinders, has reported a 57% rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 35.01 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2008, as compared to Rs 22.25 crore in the corresponding quarter in the last year. Consolidated net sales during the April-June 2008 quarter grew by 70% to Rs 189.15 crore, compared to Rs 111.31 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. During the quarter, the consolidated sales includes those of its step-down subsidiaries EKC Hungary Kft, Hungary and CP Industries Holdings, Inc, USA.
Orbit Corp net at Rs 18.20 crore
Real estate developer Orbit Corporation Ltd posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 18.22 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2008. The company’s revenue for the quarter on a consolidated basis grew by 27.48% to Rs 82.10 crore over the same quarter last year. The earnings per share work out to Rs 5.02% for the Q1 FY09. At the end of the quarter, the company had a cash balance of Rs 120 crore.
Time Technoplast net rises 70%
Time Technoplast Ltd, technology-driven polymer products manufacturer for industrial and household sectors, reported a 70% jump in its net profit at Rs 19.52 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, as compared to Rs 11.49 crore posted in Q1FY08. Net sales for Q1FY09 rose to Rs 188.82 crore, as against Rs 106.59 crore in Q1FY08, registering a growth of 77%.
