P Chidambaram has criticised Operation Blue Star and acknowledged it as a collective mistake on part of all – Army, the police, the intelligence and the civil service – adding that it resulted in Indira Gandhi’s assassination, former Prime Minister of India. The military operation was ordered to remove militants from the Golden Temple complex, but Chidambaram believes it was the wrong approach.
