Hyderabad: After three days of discouragement from over 2,000 travel agencies nationwide to sell Jet Airways and Jetlite, Jet Airways has come forward to offer 3% commission on the basic ticket fare. Travel agents account for nearly 85% of air tickets sales in the country, while airlines and travel portals cater to the rest.
According to Sunil Kumar, secretary-general, Travel Agents Association of India, over 2 lakh people are employed across the country.
“The management of Jet Airways and JetLite has agreed on the table to pay travel agents a three per cent commission,’’ he said, though awaiting for an official communication.
