A user took to social media to share that his Schengen visa got annulled, because his hotel reservation apparently got cancelled. The user shared the details on Reddit, saying that the embassy sent an email stating that the hotel the user had booked has cancelled the reservation, leading to the embassy’s decision to annul the visa.
However, when the user went back to check the same, the booking was still there.
User shocked over annulled visa over hotel booking
“I received my Schengen visa, but I was contacted by the embassy and informed that it has been annulled due to a supposed cancellation of my hotel reservation,” the user said.

“However, I booked the trip through a travel agent, and according to them, my hotel booking is still confirmed. I also contacted the hotel directly, and they’ve confirmed my reservation is active,” the post read.
Seeking help from the community, the user asked if anyone has gone through something similar. “If I appeal, do I have a good chance of getting my visa reinstated? I’d really appreciate any advice!” the user asked.
Redditors express shock: ‘Sounds like a scam…’
Several users commented on the post expressing surprise as to how this can even happen. “This is the first time I’m hearing something of this sort. Whch country did u apply to and from where,” a user asked.
To this, the Redditor replied, “Even I am still in shock about this. I applied to Latvia from the UAE.”
“Sounds like someone is trying to scam you,” said another. However, the user said the Embassy has mailed the details.
Another suggested the user visit the embassy as even the mail could be a scam. “Yes will do that on next working day,” the user replied.
