In the end, SRH won the Thursday thriller by just 1 run. The magnificent pace trio of SRH – T Natarajan, Pat Cummin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar – picked up 1 wicket each in the lats three overs that changed the direction of the game in the home side’s favour.
Winning toss and electing to bat first, SRH made a modest 201/3 in 20 overs. While everyone was hoping for a Travis Head blitz, it was local boy Nitish Kumar reddy, who powered SRH to this total along with a quickfire by Heinrich Klaasen. Although, Head’s 58 off 44 helped SRH to set a tone.
In reply, RR had a disastrous start. they lost two wickets in the first over. But that initial setback didn’t deter the RR batters. Young players – Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag – held the fort and at one point, RR seemed to be poised for an easy win. But after SRH claimed these two wickets, RR tried to regain control. Rovman Powell kept RR in the hunt till very end. But an excellent bowling by Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave a thrilling win to SRH and dream of playoff berth.
