India T20 Asia Cup 2025 Squad List Highlights: Team India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup in UAE, has been revealed. Selection committee chief Ajit Agarkar and skipper Suryakumar Yadav addressed a press conference at 2.45PM in Mumbai.

Surya Kumar Yadav on Gill being the vice-captain. “Last time when he played T20 post WC, when we went to SL, he was vice-captain. That’s where we started new cycle for T20WC. After that we got busy with Test cricket, and he didn’t get opportunities. We’re happy to have him.”
Surya Kumar Yadav highlighted the importance of the upcoming tournament for the team, saying, “First big tournament after last year’s T20 WC. It’s a good tournament to test ourselves. Lot of T20s after this also. The journey starts from here.”
Head coach Agarkar added insight on the squad selection, stating: “We had an idea after last WC which way we’re going to go. You want to give the 16-17-18 guys you’ve identified to be in the best form going into the WC.”

“It’s unfortunate. With what Abhishek has done over the last year or so, plus he gives us a bowling option, one of these guys was always going to miss out,” he said about Abhishek Jaiswal.
On Shreyas Iyer, Agarkar added, “Again no fault of his. Got to tell me who he can replace? At the moment, will have to wait for his chance.”
