The BSE Sensex recovered in morning trade on Friday and was up 155.47 points or 0.56 per cent to 27,729.13 in early trade as participants bought select blue-chip stocks ahead of IIP data to be released later in the day.
The 30-share index was trading higher by 155.47 points or 0.56 per cent at 27,729.13 as all sectoral indices, led by metal, consumer durable and healthcare stocks with gains of up to 1.05 per cent.
The National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up by 28.45 points or 0.34 per cent to 8,357.00.
Here are the seven stocks that may remain in focus today:
TCS: Tata Consultancy Services started FY16 on a quiet note. The company reported a sequential increase in dollar revenues of just 3.5% for the three months to June, though the IT major saw fairly strong profitability, turning in an operating profit margin of 26.3%. At 9.55 am, TCS shares were down 0.10 per cent on BSE and on NSE it is down 0.77 per cent in a volatile trade.
Wipro: Wipro, India’s third largest IT services exporter, on Thursday announced the acquisition of Denmark-headquartered design firm Designit for 85 million euros in an all-cash deal. This is the first acquisition by the IT major for its year-old business unit Wipro Digital, a segment projected to be an important growth engine. The Designit acquisition is expected to close this quarter. At 9.56 am, Wipro shares were up 1.43 per cent on BSE. On NSE the shares were up 1.37.
Adani Ports: According to media reports, Adani Ports is in talks to buy Warburg’s stake in Gangavaram port, Andhra Pradesh. It shares were trading up. At 9.56 am, company’s shares were up 1.14 per cent up. On NSE, shares were up 1.11 per cent.
Bajaj Corp: FMCG firm Bajaj Corp on Thursday reported a 19.94 per cent increase in its standalone net profit at Rs 47.51 crore for the first quarter of the 2015-16 fiscal. At 9.56 am, the shares were trading up 2.13 per cent on BSE. The shares were trading 3.11 per cent up on NSE during the same time.
Aurobindo Pharma: Aurobindo Pharma on Thursday said its shareholders have approved issue of one bonus share for every one equity share held in the company. Shareholders at the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) of the company held on Thursday have approved issue of one bonus equity share for every one equity share held in the company as on the record date. At 9.57 am, the company’s shares were up 0.68 per cent on BSE. The company’s shares were up 1.38 per cent on NSE.
ICICI Bank: Media reports said that ICICI Bank may sell its home finance arm. At 9.58 per cent the company’s shares were up 1.70 per cent on BSE. The shares were up 1.60 per cent on NSE.
Monnet Ispat & Energy: Monnet Ispat & Energy on Thursday said that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with JSW Energy to sell the controlling stake in its subsidiary, Monnet Power (MPCL), which is implementing a 1,050-MW thermal power project in Odisha.
