The IPL season is not only about bat and ball, it also marks a distinct change in viewing habits. Many people like to watch the matches on big TV screens than on mobile devices for the simple reason that it creates a more engaging experience, with food and friends adding to the excitement. It is not surprising that the sale of smart TVs, particularly in larger screen sizes, such as 55-inches and above, goes up.
Acerpure, an Acer group company, has introduced its new Swift TV series to capitalise on this market opportunity. Dixon Technologies sent us a trial unit, which was the 55-inch UHD LED Smart Google TV (AP55UG51ASFTD model). It gives bright, beautiful contrast and high picture quality that pulls you into the viewing scenario, whether you are watching a sporting event or wildlife scene on YouTube. Let us check out its finer details.
Almost all TVs made nowadays have smart features built into them. The Acerpure TV runs on Google’s Android TV OS, offering access to the Google Play Store for a wide variety of apps, games, and streaming services. I find the Google TV OS is fast, easy to use, and loaded with a wide selection of apps, so you don’t have to spend even more money on an external streaming device.
Some of the supported apps on the Acerpure TV include Netflix, Prime Video, Sony Liv, Disney+Hotstar, Zee5, Youtube, etc. There is in-built Wi-Fi, 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. There are 3 HDMI ports to connect latest gaming consoles, set top box and Blu-ray players. Also, two USB ports to connect hard drives and other USB devices. You get a remote with voice assistant; this feature ensures hands-free voice control and Google Assistant operation.
The TV can be mounted on a wall or placed on a table. Switched on and connected to the home Wi-Fi network, the first thing I liked is that it comes to life in an instant. HDR-10 on the Acerpure TV is not only the most common HDR format these days, it focuses on colour and brightness for a high-end viewing experience. Basically,
this technology adapts your TV to optimally display UHD content
the way it was meant to be seen with true-to-life highlight and shadow details.
I loved watching some of the latest Netflix and Prime Video movies, not to mention the ongoing IPL matches on this TV’s big screen. The picture quality is sharp and vibrant, and 24 watts of loud sound with Dolby Atmos is a big bonus to the visual treat. With 2GB RAM, the performance is smooth, with no lag or hanging issues. It runs apps efficiently and provides a great viewing experience, especially for movies and shows.
There’s another thing I must point out. The TV’s image processing is top-notch, meaning it does an amazing job of upscaling and cleaning up low-quality content. It also has an incredibly wide viewing angle (178 degrees), so everyone sees the same image when watching TV with a group. Overall, it’s a good smart TV with reliable performance. Definitely worth considering for those looking for quality at an affordable price.
