Vodafone Idea, one of India’s leading telcos, has announced efforts to fortify its cybersecurity by introducing Nokia’s NetGuard Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) across its network. This move aims to better protect both individual users and businesses from rising cyber threats.

NetGuard EDR is a specialised system that monitors network activity in real-time, allowing Vodafone Idea to quickly detect and respond to security issues. By doing this, the company hopes to reduce potential security gaps and keep operational costs low while ensuring that services remain available and reliable.

For end users-both consumers and businesses-this means improved protection for their data and personal information. With NetGuard EDR in place, users can expect fewer disruptions to services and enhanced security measures that safeguard against cyberattacks.Initially, the new system will be implemented on Vodafone Idea’s 4G networks, with plans to expand it to their upcoming 5G network. This upgrade is part of Vodafone Idea’s broader strategy to build a more secure and resilient network as digital threats continue to evolve.

Jagbir Singh, CTO of Vodafone Idea, while making the announcement, said that as Vodafone Idea continues to grow, they are focused on creating networks that can handle increasing demands, including rising security risks.

Mathan Babu Kasilingam, CISO at Vodafone Idea, added that protecting essential systems is crucial as cyberattacks become more sophisticated. The deployment of NetGuard EDR is an important step in ensuring that all users’ information is secure.

Arvind Khurana from Nokia stated that NetGuard EDR will provide Vodafone Idea with the advanced tools needed to combat modern cyber threats. This means users can expect a safer environment for their communications and data. The introduction of Nokia’s NetGuard EDR is expected to enhance security for all Vodafone Idea users, ensuring better protection against cyber threats while maintaining reliable service
