Realme has unveiled its latest Narzo 80 Pro 5G and Narzo 80X 5G smartphones, promising flagship-level performance at mid-range prices. While the devices boast impressive specs including MediaTek’s latest chipsets, high-refresh-rate displays, and massive batteries the real challenge will be differentiating themselves in an increasingly competitive budget smartphone market.
The Narzo 80 Pro 5G, starting at Rs 17,999, is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 5G chipset, a 4nm processor that Realme claims can deliver 90 FPS gaming in BGMI. It also features a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with an industry-leading 4500 nits peak brightness, a rare feature in this segment. The 6000mAh battery with 80W fast charging is another highlight, along with a 50MP OIS camera, IP69 waterproofing, and military-grade durability.
The Narzo 80X 5G starting at Rs 11,999 opts for the Dimensity 6400 5G chipset, a 120Hz LCD display, and the same 6000mAh battery but with slower 45W charging. While the specs are solid for the price, they follow Realme’s usual strategy of packing in hardware while keeping costs low.
Realme’s biggest hurdle will be standing out in a market flooded with strong alternatives like Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G that offers a 200MP camera and 120W charging, though its battery is smaller (5000mAh). Poco X6 Pro is another strong competitor features the Dimensity 8300-Ultra, a faster chip than the Narzo 80 Pro, but lacks waterproofing. There’s also Samsung Galaxy F54 5G that boasts a 108MP camera but lags in charging speed (25W).
Realme’s pricing is aggressive, but brands like Redmi and Poco have consistently matched or undercut such offers. Additionally, while Realme emphasizes gaming performance, rivals like iQOO and Poco have stronger brand recognition in that space.
The Narzo 80 Pro 5G and 80X 5G deliver strong hardware at competitive prices, making them solid choices for budget-conscious buyers. However, with rivals offering similar and sometimes better features, Realme will need more than just specs to dominate.
The first sale begins on April 15 on Amazon and Realme’s website.
