In an unprecedented move, Nothing has announced a Rs 10,000 price drop on the 12GB/256GB variant of its current flagship Phone 2. During Flipkart’s upcoming Republic Day 2024 sale, it will be put on sale for Rs 34,999. The same variant will cost you Rs 44,999 otherwise. Presumably, it will be a limited time deal available through January 19 (the day the Flipkart sale ends) or until stocks last.

Nothing had revised Phone 2 prices in India in December 2023 reiterating its commitment to making cutting-edge technology accessible, even if it came five months after launch. The Phone 2 was launched in July 2023 at a starting price of Rs 44,999 for a version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage. The phone’s 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB models cost Rs 49,999 and Rs 54,999 at launch. Post the price cut, the Phone 2 now comes in at Rs 39,999 (8GB/128GB), Rs 44,999 (12GB/256GB) and Rs 49,999 (12GB/512GB).

In addition to the flat discount, ICICI bank card owners can avail an extra Rs 2,000 discount on the Phone 2 during Flipkart’s promotional sale event, Nothing said in a press release. An “enhanced” exchange value of Rs 3,000 will be given when trading in an eligible device, the company added. Elsewhere, Nothing will also throw in a CMF 65W GaN charger for Rs 1,999, Rs 1,000 lower than its original pricing, on buying the Phone 2. The Phone 2 comes without any charger in the box.

The Phone 2 makes a case for itself by packing respectable hardware and stock-ish Android software inside a flashy— but polarising— see-through design. But competition like the OnePlus 11R and iQOO Neo 7 Pro provide better value while some like the OnePlus Nord 3 get you a lot of smartphone for a lot less money. Nothing’s own Phone 1, which has received multiple price cuts since launch, is a good buy for someone who wants to get acquainted with Nothing’s philosophy before taking the leap. But a whopping Rs 10,000 price drop should make that leap a bit more doable even if it could trigger those who bought the phone at original pricing.
