There were more than 25,000 incidents of people reporting issues with the social media platform as of 8:39 a.m. EDT (1239 GMT), according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources.

Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter and currently owned by billionaire Elon Musk, experienced a widespread outage on Saturday, leaving thousands of users across the globe unable to access key features.

According to Downdetector, a website that monitors online service disruptions, more than 25,000 users in the United States reported issues with the platform as of 8:39 a.m. EDT (6:09 p.m. IST). In India, users also took to other platforms to complain about the malfunction, citing failures in loading feeds and accessing essential tabs like ‘For You’, ‘Following’, and ‘Notifications’.

The disruption appeared to be platform-wide, affecting both the mobile app and web interface. Users reported being unable to log in, refresh their timelines, or even open the site entirely.

Downdetector’s data showed a sharp spike in complaints during the early hours of Saturday morning, suggesting a large-scale technical breakdown. The company has not yet released an official statement explaining the cause of the outage.

This isn’t the first time X has faced a global service disruption under Musk’s leadership.

Since his acquisition, the platform has undergone several changes in infrastructure and moderation policies, occasionally sparking operational hiccups.
