Apple plans to rebuild its strategy for the Vision Pro mixed reality headsets. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is looking for an iteration of its $3,500 spatial computing device. He explains that the Cupertino-based tech giant is facing peer pressure from its competitors.
Tech giant Meta has recently introduced its Quest 3S headset in just half of the price of Vision Pro headsets. Looks like Apple doesn’t want to stay back in this game. So, here’s a new strategy!
Apple to rebuild its strategy
Gurman says that Apple’s Vision products range is looking for better strategies regarding its spatial computing devices. These include reducing the cost, improving designs and coming up with new features, among others. The tech giant also aims to make a mark into the smart glass sector. Apparently it would be easy to maintain a premium version of the Vision Pro along with bringing an affordable version of the gadget, Gurman added further.
Well, Gurman’s statements surprisingly match with the recent reports of Apple working on an affordable range of Vision headset. The headsets are codenamed as N109 and are expected to launch by 2025. The headset can be of premium quality but can have less weight or minus some features. The price range is expected to range from $1,500 to $2,500.
The main aim of the tech giant remains developing an augmented reality glass with top notch features, all in a standard glass frame. Apple could probably bring something like Meta’s smart glasses. Meta had recently collaborated with Ray-Ban to bring its next-gen smart glasses named Orion. Apple’s plan to bring something like Orion. This is because it aims to shift towards producing a lightweight and easy to carry wearable device.
The way ahead
Furthermore, Apple CEO Tim Cook has made these ‘exquisite developments,’ as a long-term vision for a long time. However, this might face few technical challenges. Earlier Apple had tried to execute such products, however they had to pause it for some issues.
In addition to this, Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also come up with some expected developments. He claimed that Apple is working on a second-generation Vision Pro. The upcoming headset is expected to feature a M5 chip. The Vision Pro will also have Apple intelligence. Kuo also said that Apple will start mass production of this product in the second half of 2025.
