To access Aadhaar-related services online, it’s essential to have your mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. This is because OTPs (One-Time Passwords) are sent to the registered number for identity verification during online transactions. If the mobile number previously linked to your Aadhaar is no longer in use, or if you wish to change it, you can conveniently update it through the proper process. Keeping your mobile number updated ensures seamless access to various digital Aadhaar services.

You cannot change the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card directly online, as biometric verification is mandatory. To update your number, you must either visit a nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or schedule an appointment through the official UIDAI portal.

Follow these steps to book your appointment online:

Step 1: Go to the official UIDAI website and choose your preferred language for easier navigation.

Step 2: Navigate to “My Aadhaar” > “Get Aadhaar” > “Book an Appointment.”

Step 3: Type in your city or location and click on ‘Proceed to Book Appointment.’

Step 4: Enter your current mobile number and the CAPTCHA code shown, then click “Generate OTP.”

Step 5: Once you receive the OTP, input it and select “Verify OTP.”

Step 6: Fill in the following information based on your Aadhaar:

Aadhaar Number

Full Name (as per Aadhaar)

Date of Birth

Type of Application Verification

State

City

Preferred Aadhaar Seva Kendra

Step 7: Choose the data field you want to modify—in this case, select “Update Mobile Number.”

Step 8: Click on “Next” to pick a convenient date and time for your appointment.

Step 9: Review all entered details carefully and click “Submit” to confirm your appointment.

Step 10: Visit the selected Aadhaar Seva Kendra at your chosen date and time, and wait for your turn.

Step 11: The official at the centre will carry out biometric verification before updating your mobile number in the Aadhaar system.

Step 12: You will need to pay a service charge of ₹50 for the update process. An acknowledgement receipt will be issued, which includes a URN (Update Request Number). This URN can be used to track the status of your mobile number update online.
