Regional films truly shone at the Box Office in 2025, with hits like Kantara: Chapter 1, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra and others outperforming Bollywood movies. Now, to close off the year with a bang, Mammootty’s latest action crime thriller Kalamkaval, has managed to not only smash the domestic Box Office but also the worldwide one.

When it quickly brushed past the Rs 50 crore milestone, media outlets were already hailing it as Mammootty’s ‘fastest fifty’. With positive word-of-mouth, rave reviews from critics and incredible filmography, the film has now managed to earn over Rs 70 crore worldwide after just 10 days of release.

Kalamkaval’s Box Office performance on Day 10

Kalamkaval performed remarkably well at the Indian Box Office on its 10th day, a Sunday (December 14, 2025). It managed to rake in collections worth Rs 2.1 crores, marking no drop in earnings from the previous day’s collections, which also recorded Rs 2.1 crores, according to rough estimates by Industry tracker Sacnilk. The film has now comfortably crossed the Rs 30 crore net milestone in India, with the total India net amounting to Rs 32.15 crores and the India gross reaching Rs 37.9 crores.

Most importantly, the film performed beyond expectations overseas, earning a massive Rs 35.6 crores and thus bringing the total worldwide collections to an impressive Rs 73.5 crores as per Sacnilk. Mammootty’s raw star power, the stellar direction by debutant Jitin K Jose, and a thrilling storyline have collectively encouraged audiences to show up in droves to the cinemas, driving up revenue.

Theatre occupancy

Kalamkaval maintained a strong overall Malayalam occupancy of 36.34% across theaters on the 10th day, according to the report by Sacnilk. Footfalls peaked during the latter half of the day, with Evening and Night shows pulling in the largest crowds, recording 47.95% and 39.41% theatre occupancy respectively.

The Kerala commercial capital, Kochi, held the lion’s share of shows with 144, resulting in a respectable 44.00% overall occupancy, followed by Trivandrum with 115 shows. However, the film demonstrated its widespread reach in major South Indian metros outside of Kerala, where Chennai recorded the highest overall occupancy at 50.25% from 44 shows, and Bengaluru followed closely with 45.75% occupancy from 62 shows.
