Controversial actor Darshan Thoogudeepa’s latest release The Devil opened to a terrific start at the Box Office when it released on December 11, 2025. The action film surpassed all expectations when it earned Rs 10 crores on opening day and continued it’s decent run through the weekend.
Starring Darshan Thoogudeepa, Rachana Rai, Mahesh Manjrekar, Achyuth Kumar and Sharmiela Mandre in prominent roles, the film sees Darshan act in a dual role – as the innocent and simple Krishna and Danush Rajasekhar, the arrogant and corrupt son of a Chief Minister. The plot follows Krishna and how is life unravels as his path crosses Danush’s. The conflict plays out as a battle between the innocent and the corrupt, the moral and the amoral.
The Devil’s performance at the Box Office on Day 4
After raking in collections worth Rs 10 crores on Day 1, the film saw a 66% drop on Day 2 with an earning of Rs 3.4 crores. Day 3 saw an earning of Rs 3.8 crores while Day 4 had collections pick up slightly with an earning of Rs 4.25 crores as per rough data from industry tracker Sacnilk.
According to Sacnilk, the film had an India gross collection, the amount calculated before taxes and deductions, of Rs 25.25 crores while India net collections amounted to Rs 21.47 crores – doubling it’s opening day numbers and then some.
The collections are impressive considering that the lead actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, is currently serving jail time in connection to the Renukaswamy murder case where he stands accused. The actor had been arrested in June 2024 but had been granted bail but it’s recent cancellation saw him return to prison.
Theatre occupancy on Day 4
On Day 4, The Devil’s primary audience was Kannada and theatres had an overall 53.38% occupancy according to a report by Sacnilk. Afternoon and evening shows pulled in the most footfalls with 65.67% and 71.55% theatre occupancy respectively.
Bengaluru had the lion’s share of shows with 492, followed by Mysuru with 64 and Mangaluru with 27. The former had an overall occupancy of 51.50% while the latter two had occupancies of 68.25% and 27%. Other locations had high theatre occupancies ranging from 50 – 80 percent but fewer shows in comparison. This proves that the film continues to have a strong hold on audiences across Karnataka and might be considered a blockbuster if the momentum continues.
