Anushka Sharma starrer ‘NH10’ box office collections, after having managed to gather steam over last weekend, generating Rs 13.30 crore to become the fifth-biggest opening weekend grosser of 2015 – behind Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ (Rs 36.07 cr), Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Roy’ (Rs 28.68 cr), Varun Dhawan’s ‘Badlapur’ (Rs 23.5 cr) and ‘Tevar’ (Rs 22.05) – managed to do a business (domestic) of Rs 20.62 cr, with the 7th day take being 1.52 crore.
Despite immense hype, ‘NH10’ – Anushka Sharma’s maiden production venture that also features the actress in the lead role – could only manage Rs 3.35 cr on Friday, Rs 4.50 cr on Saturday and Rs 5.45 cr on Sunday (15th March). The less than expected start can be attributed to the ongoing board examinations coupled with a major chunk of cinema going audience religiously following the cricket World Cup 2015 – that ‘NH10’ is burdened with an ‘A’ rating is also not helping matters any.

But NH10 has done well compared to other heroine-centric moves in the recent past. It has done almost double of what ‘Queen’ (Rs 1.80 cr) did on its opening day and much better on the first weekend as Kangana Ranaut’s managed to collect just Rs 10 crore. The film has also bettered Vidya Balan’s Kahaani (Rs 2.95 cr/Rs 13.83 cr), Kangana’s Tanu Weds Manu (Rs 3.26 cr/Rs 11.27 cr) while falling a little behind Rani Mukherje Mardaani (Rs 3.46 cr/Rs 14.46).
However, NH10 has been gaining audience appreciation and what’s left to be seen is whether this will help its box office collections manage to beat other big releases of the year in the days to come.
A completely packed PVR, on a Sunday night, #NH10 gets over and there is pin drop silence. Take a bow @AnushkaSharma – crafty and courageous
