The Ministry of Education on Wednesday announced to cancel of the UGC-NET June 2024 exam which was conducted yesterday, on June 18, across the nation. In an official press release, the Ministry stated that the exam is cancelled due to potential misconduct. It further said that the integrity of the examination “may have been compromised”.

All the students who appeared for the UGC-NET June 2024 examination on Tuesday are required to attempt the exam all over again since UGC received “certain inputs” from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre.

“To ensure the highest level of transparency and sanctity of the examination process, the Ministry of Education, Government of India has decided that the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination be cancelled. A fresh examination shall be conducted, for which information shall be shared separately,” the official notification read.

Additionally, the Ministry of Education has informed that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been involved for investigating the matter further.

According to official reports, in the UGC NET June 2024 exam, a total of 11,21,225 candidates registered including 6,35,587 female students, 4,85,579 male students, and 59 third-gender candidates. Out of the total, 9,08,580 candidates (81 per cent) appeared for the exam.

The official notice also remarked on the NEET(UG) Examination-2024. It stated, “As regards certain irregularities alleged in the conduct of the examination in Patna, a detailed report has been sought from the Economic Offences Unit, Bihar Police. Government will take further action, on receipt of this report.”
