Mumbai University Results 2017: This is the third time when the University of Mumbai has failed to meet its deadline for the declaration of its undergraduate programmes. The university was supposed to announce the final year results of its undergraduate programmes on August 15 at mu.ac.in. Over 1.5 lakh answer sheets are still yet to be assessed by the varsity and only 330-odd test results have been announced until now. According to officials, out of the 1.5 lakh answer sheets that have not yet been assessed, the largest chunk belonged to students from the commerce stream.

Earlier in the month, Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor Ch Vidyasagar Rao directed the University of Mumbai to declare the results for all the streams by July 31. After which Vice-Chancellor Sanjay Deshmukh sought an extension till August 5, which was later extended till August 15. But the university failed to deliver results on August 15, final declaration date is still awaited. A long weekend due to national holidays has further slowed the process. According to the report, VC Deshmukh has been sent on forced leave by Chancellor Ch Vidyasagar Rao after which acting V-C Devanand Shinde was quoted saying, “We cannot commit to a deadline but we are doing our best. Our focus is to get correct results.” He added, “The technical problems have now been addressed. The results will be out at the earliest.”

Worried about the assessment work of the students, a professor of the university said, “The academic calendar and teaching period has been reduced drastically, especially with a week-long non-instructional period. We will have to rush through our portions to be able to complete the syllabus for the semester exams.”
