The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced a reduction in the qualifying percentile for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 across all categories.
According to an official statement, this decision was made by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in consultation with the National Medical Commission (NMC). The revised criteria state that general and EWS category candidates scoring 15th percentile and above will be eligible for counselling.
For candidates from SC, ST, OBC, and PwD categories, the new qualifying percentile is set at 10th percentile and above. Previously, the NEET PG cut-off was set at the 50th percentile for general category candidates, 45th percentile for PwD candidates, and 40th percentile for reserved category students.
In recent years, the qualifying percentile has been adjusted significantly. Last year, it was reduced to zero across all categories. In 2022, the general category cut-off was lowered from the 50th percentile to the 35th, while the unreserved PwD cut-off dropped from the 45th to the 20th percentile. Similarly, the cut-off for SC, ST, and OBC candidates, including PwD candidates from these groups, was reduced from the 40th to the 20th percentile.
