JAC Board Matric Exams 2018 were conducted from 8th March to 21st March. 4,31,734 candidates appeared for the Jharkhand Board 10th exam. The exam was held in 954 centres. The Jharkhand Academic Council had declared Jharkhand board 12th result on June 7.

Over 3,17,000 students have appeared for class 12 Science and Commerce exam this year. The class 12th exams were held between March 8 to March 27. JAC chairman Arvind Pratap Singh, had earlier confirmed that the results would be declared on June 12. JAC chairperson Arvind Prasad Singh had confirmed that the results of Jharkhand Board Matric exam will be declared at 4 PM on Tuesday.

In a surprising outcome, around 1,28,595 students failed this year Class 10 examination. The overall pass percentage stood at 59.48 per cent, while 23% students secured first position.

The results of Class 10 students were revised last year by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC). Nearly 35,000 more students had cleared the examinations who were earlier had been declared ‘failed’. The JAC had overlooked a crucial provision regarding language subjects.
• In 2017, a total of 3,26,107 students had appeared for JAC Intermediate exam which was held across 444 centres.
• Out of this, over 1,87,610 had appeared for the Arts exam and the overall pass percentage of JAC Class 12 Arts results was 71.95%
• Last year the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) had declared JAC results for Arts stream on June 20 while the result for Science and Commerce streams were declared on May 30.

The press conference will soon begin. According to report, JAC Chairman Arvind Pratap Singh said that the results of Class 10 examination will be declared shortly at 4 pm today through a press conference.

In 2017, the Jharkhand Academic Council made a mistake as nearly 35,000 students who had cleared the exam in class 10 were declared ‘failed’. This happened as JAC had overlooked a crucial provision regarding language subjects. The pass percentage was at 57.91, an all-time low for Class 10 since JAC began conducting the examinations in 2005.
An act was passed in 2003 to establish Jharkhand Academic Council or JAC and was enacted by the Jharkhand State Legislature and assented to by the Governor of the State on 26.12.2003. The council is responsible for holding exams for class 10 and class 12 in the state along with prescribing the syllabus.
The Jharkhand Board had declared class 12 result for Commerce and Science streams on June 7. 16618 and 26337 students have secured first division and second division, respectively for science stream. The pass percentage for the same was at 48.34%. In Commerce stream, the pass percentage was 67.49%. 6127 students secure first division while 18267 students got second divsion.
According to various media reports, an Jharkhand Academic Council official said that the result will be declared at around 4 PM on the official website jac.jharkhand.gov.in and jacresults.nic.in. However, the third-party websites show that the result will be declared at around 4:30 PM. The students are advised to keep refreshing the website for more updates.
It will be interesting to see how students fare in 2018, as 2016 statistics was better than 2017. While in 2017, 4,67,193 students appeared for JAC 10th results; in 2016, the number was 4,66,000. The overall pass percentage in 2016 was 67.54 percent which was 10 percent more than 2017, when the pass percentage was 57.91.
The students are advised to download the result and take a printout for future reference. They need to keep in mind that this is only the provisional mark sheet and the official mark sheet will be provided by their schools, once issued by the board.
