World has witnessed the last three years of shifting workplace trends. Companies are still finding their balance with the huge change in people’s mindset after Covid, huge change in processes since now technology is complementing human efforts and it has been a paradigm shift in the way we do business today.
With work modes like Hybrid, fully remote, flexible schedules, four-day work in office, full time in office have been swerving trends pulling corporations in various directions and hence standardisation and acceptance has been difficult with Talent hiring and acquisition for different profiles, different levels, geographies. Also, DEI adds to this challenge as that is a very important task for having a strong and diversified talent pool. Gender & Generations need a balance, work modes need a balance, flexibility & rigidity in people policy needs a balance and today even Degree Vs Skill hiring needs a balance.
Modes of hiring also need a balance between traditional and modern AI and social media recruitment where we need to research and find where the top talent spend their time, proactively: social media like Instagram, Facebook Meta, Snapchat, LinkedIn etc.
The education sector primarily faces these challenges more than other sectors as this business of service is done more from the heart than from the head with a motive of developing generations and not a product hence the sensibilities are very different, where stability is predominant as a requirement keeping in mind social responsibility. Here the motivation comes less from money and more from stability, job satisfaction & fulfilment, exposure to different perspectives and ideologies and growth of an individual.
To build exceptional teams here, platforms must be seamlessly designed to hire with flexible work modes with predefined portfolios suited to the job academic or non-academic, engaging them with a continuous monitor on progression and performance, rewarding them for instant or long-term achievements for individual and collaborative efforts & genuinely having concern for their wellbeing. We ought to continuously train & develop them to be relevant at all times & retain them keeping in mind that they are the asset of the organisation who help achieve your goals & accomplish your vision.
