In its latest post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the IMD shared, “The depression over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal moved slowly north-northwestwards with a speed of 7 kmph during the past 6 hours, intensified into a Deep Depression and lay centered at 2330 hours IST of yesterday, the 8th of September, 2024.”
The weather agency further added that the system is expected to move towards Odisha, making landfall near Puri by noon on September 9. Heavy rains are forecast for Odisha and neighboring regions, including Chhattisgarh, until September 11.
