A man was allegedly thrashed by worshippers and later arrested after being found cooking meat near the steps of a temple in Mathura, police said Friday.
The incident took place on Thursday evening at the Ladli Temple in Barsana, police said, reported PTI.

The man has been identified as Sanjai, a Rajasthan native who has lived in Barsana for the past few years and begged in the temple area.
“He was booked under Section 295 (defiling place of worship) of the Indian Penal Code and sent to judicial custody,” said Inspector Arvind Nirval.
According to police, Sanjai was beaten by some people when they found him cooking meat near the temple. They then handed him over to the police.
