Telangana Assemble Election 2023: Telangana’s Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated nine new government medical colleges ahead of State Assembly Polls. Participating in the event via video conference, KCR proudly declared that Telangana’s tally of government medical colleges had surged from a mere five in 2014, when the state was carved out of Andhra Pradesh, to an impressive 26.
The official social media post from the Chief Minister’s office emphasized the monumental achievement in Telangana’s medical education. It noted that no other state in India had initiated such an ambitious endeavor of establishing numerous medical colleges in a single year, solely funded by the state itself. Telangana, therefore, had etched its name into the annals of medical education history.
The newly inaugurated medical colleges, namely Kumrambhim Asifabad, Kamareddy, Khammam, Vikarabad, Jangaon, Rajanna Sirsilla, Nirmal, Jaishankar Bhopalpalli, and Karimnagar Medical Colleges, were all part of this groundbreaking initiative.
KCR highlighted that the number of available medical seats had skyrocketed from a mere 2,850 in 2014 to an impressive 8,516 at present. Furthermore, he made an exciting announcement, revealing plans to open an additional eight government medical colleges in the upcoming year.
The Telangana Chief Minister’s office envisioned a future where the state would proudly hold the distinction of being the first in India to boast a government medical college in each of its districts. This bold aspiration underlined the state’s unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare and medical education.
Adding to the chorus of praise, Telangana’s Health Minister, T Harish Rao, underscored the historic significance of inaugurating nine government medical colleges in a single day, a momentous achievement that had never before been witnessed in the field of medical education in the country.
Telangana Assembly Polls are anticipated to be held by the end of the year 2023. Election Commission of India is yet to announce the dates for the elections but looking at the past, it can be said that it will be conducted in the end of this year.
