Earthquake News: Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR on Monday. According to news agency ANI, an earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck neighbouring Nepal at 4:16 pm. The National Center for Seismology has confirmed another major earthquake in Nepal. The NCS also said that the earthquake occurred at the depth of 10 km. This is the second time that North India has experienced tremors in less than seven days. Nepal witnessed a devastating earthquake during the intervening nights of November 3 and 4. Over 150 people had lost their lives due to the tremblor that had the epicenter in Jajarkot.

The November 3 earthquake that jolted Jajarkot and Rukum West in Nepal was of 6.4 magnitude. While the Himalayan nation is still reeling under the impact of the midnight earthquake, as a first responder, India delivered relief material on Sunday. Several hundred people are forced to spend their cold nights under the open sky due to the widespread infra damage in Jajarkot.

Yesterday, a C-130 flight of the Indian Air Force landed in Nepal, delivering the initial shipment of emergency relief supplies valued at Rs 10 crore. The consignment consisted of tents, blankets, tarpaulin sheets, along with vital medicines and medical equipment.

A PTI report says that the intensity of the Monday earthquake was measured at 5.8 and its epicentre was at Ramidanda of Jajarkot. The tremor, which was also felt in Kathmandu, triggered panic among people. This was followed by another 4.5-magnitude earthquake at 4.40 p.m., said an official at the National Earthquake Measurement Centre.
