After a spell of rainfall over northwest and adjoining central & east India for a few days, dry weather is likely to continue for the next 4-5 days, India Meteorological Department (IMD) mentioned in the latest weather report.

On Monday, light to moderate isolated rainfall and snowfall happened in Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Dry weather is predicted in these regions as well. 

Delhi’s air quality improves

The national capital’s air quality improved from ‘poor’ to ‘moderate’ on Monday, and the maximum temperature settled at 21 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season’s average.

The 24-hour air quality index (AQI) read 180. On Sunday, the AQI was recorded at 282, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data. The 24-hour AQI on Saturday was 193.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “very poor”, and 401 and 500 “severe”.

The humidity levels fluctuated between 98 percent and 61 percent during the day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Notably, February has seen four days of rainfall while last year, no rainfall was recorded in this month.

Rainfall update

Light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh. Further, Isolated to scattered rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura till February 7. 

Minimum temperature forecast

A fall in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C is likely over many parts of Northwest India during the next 3 days and no significant change thereafter. 

Gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C is predicted over many parts of central India during the next 5 days. No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over the rest of north India.
