The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced that it will release draft electoral rolls for three states and two Union Territories – West Bengal, Rajasthan, Goa, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep – today, December 16. To maintain transparency, the Commission has instructed Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) and District Electoral Officers (DEOs) to distribute hard copies of the draft rolls to all recognised political parties.
Draft rolls to be accessible on ECI websites
To make the process more accessible, the draft electoral rolls will also be made available on the official websites of the CEOs and DEOs, enabling voters to check their details online. These websites will also have detailed lists of voters marked as absent, shifted, dead, or duplicated.
Earlier, on December 11, the Election Commission extended the timelines for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in five states and one Union Territory.
Under the revised schedule, the enumeration timeline in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat has been extended until December 14, with draft electoral rolls to be released on December 19. For Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, enumeration will conclude on December 18, followed by the publication of draft rolls on December 23.
For Uttar Pradesh, the deadline is December 26, with draft electoral rolls scheduled to be published on December 31, the ECI said in an official statement.
How to check your name?
To check your name online, visit the Election Commission’s website (eci.gov.in) and enter your name along with your EPIC number, The Indian Express reported.
For those opting for offline verification, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at polling stations will have access to the electoral lists. Branch Level Agents (BLAs) will also be available to assist voters if they are unable to reach BLOs directly.
Earlier, the enumeration process for these six states and the Union Territory was set to conclude on December 11, with draft rolls slated for publication on December 16.
The Commission had earlier revised the timeline for Kerala, where the enumeration period will now end on December 18, and the draft electoral rolls will be published on December 23. The final electoral roll for the state will be released on February 21, 2026, instead of the earlier date of February 14, 2026.
The ECI has urged eligible voters, particularly first-time voters, to submit Form 6 along with the required declaration either through Booth Level Officers (BLOs) or online via the ECINet app or the official website, to ensure that their names are included in the final rolls.
“In order to ensure that no eligible elector is left behind, new electors are being encouraged to fill up the Form 6 along with the Declaration and submit them to the BLOs or fill the Form and Declaration online using the ECINet App/website to get their names included in the Final Electoral Rolls, which will be published in February, 2026,” ECI said in a press statement.
