"It is a very good feeling that the party has shown trust in us and the people of our area gave a lot of confidence, especially in the situation when I was attacked by the candidate, and AAP leader and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal saying that they need to defeat Rinkiya's father, they were saying to defeat the father of a daughter. All these things are in my mind, but my character is different," Tiwari said.
"I do not attack or talk below the belt. I want to remain very moderate in my life and may be that is the return of whatever decision is coming. I will serve the people of my area with this character," he added.
Congress leader Syed Naseer Hussain says, "Results are yet to come, a close contest is there at many seats. The issues that we have raised have resonated. Our alliance is getting good seats. What will be our strategy in the days to come will be decided by the leadership of parties in the alliance. At 5:30, party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party president Rahul Gandhi will hold a press conference..."
"In Delhi, we gave strong fight to BJP and the margins are narrow this time (as compared to 2019)," said party MP Sanjay Singh. The Aam Aadmi Party today said that their candidates gave a tough challenge to the BJP in Delhi despite facing adverse circumstances.
The Election Commission gave time to the Congress delgation within 30 minutes of their request today. As per the ECI sources, on Congress' delegation's complaint, the commission replied, "The counting is conducted as per Rule 60 of the Conduct of Election Rules at the designated counting centres. This is happening in the presence of candidates, agents, microobservers and observers. There is no report from any counting centre otherwise, to the contrary. In Assembly elections, rounds pertain to that assembly constituency and hence are declared and reflected on the ECI results portal. For Parliamentary Constituencies, the counting happens in the assembly segments falling in the particular PC. Different Assembly constituency segments of the PC have different numbers of rounds and they run at different speeds. Hence a round of PC can't be defined and displayed. It has always been so. The commission sent a written reply to the INC too, after explaining this to the delegation."

An official from the Election Commission has informed that approximately 60 percent of the vote counting process for the Delhi Lok Sabha Polls has been completed. The counting commenced at 8 am this morning, and after 12 rounds, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in all seven seats in the capital.
In the New Delhi constituency, first-time contender Bansuri Swaraj, representing the BJP, has surged ahead with a commanding lead of 31,594 votes. This significant margin places her ahead of her opponent, AAP's Somnath Bharti. Bansuri Swaraj's candidacy initially raised eyebrows, even within the BJP, as she is relatively new to the political arena. Her selection for the high-profile New Delhi seat, despite her newcomer status, surprised many, considering her lineage as the daughter of late BJP stalwart Sushma Swaraj.
This decision was notable, given Sushma's historical ties with senior BJP figures like L K Advani, who had previously contested Narendra Modi's elevation as the party's prime ministerial candidate in 2014. Bansuri's foray into politics began in March 2023 when she was appointed as the co-convenor of the Delhi BJP's legal department, marking her initial steps into the political landscape.
BJP still leading in all seven seats in Delhi:
1 Chandni Chowk(1) - PRAVEEN KHANDELWAL - 172475
2 North-East Delhi(2) -MANOJ TIWARI - 300234
3 East Delhi(3) - HARSH MALHOTRA - 190245

5 North-West Delhi(5) - YOGENDER CHANDOLIYA - 238334
6 West Delhi(6) - KAMALJEET SEHRAWAT - 278327
7 South Delhi(7) - RAMVIR SINGH BIDHURI - 312950
Kanhaiya Kumar, the Indian alliance candidate, is behind by 66,583 votes. In the Northeast Delhi seat, he faced off against Manoj Tiwari of the BJP. After losing to Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh in 2019 while running on the Communist Party of India (CPI) ticket from Bihar's Begusarai Lok Sabha constituency, Kanhaiya made another effort at running for parliament.
Here is a brief overview of the counting process: Under Rule 54 A of the Conduct of Elections Rules 1961, the counting of postal ballot papers shall begin first at the Returning Officer's (RO) table. Only those postal ballot papers received by the RO before the hour fixed for the commencement of counting will be considered. After 30 minutes of counting postal ballots, the counting of votes from EVMs commences. If there are no postal ballot papers in the constituency, the counting of votes from EVMs can begin at the scheduled time.

"India created a world record with 64.2 crore voters, including 31.2 crore women, participating in the Lok Sabha elections this year," Kumar stated.
CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat says, "The race is in its initial stages right now. INDIA bloc has performed well in the initial stages. But like I said, this is only the beginning...The Exit Polls and the initial picture that was painted earlier is failing 100%."

The high-stakes Delhi battle saw a high-pitched contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the INDIA bloc parties, which includes the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). While BJP contested all seven seats in the capital, AAP contested 4 seats while Congress fielded its candidates in 3 as part of their seat-sharing agreement.
Two of the main contenders for the New Delhi seat are BJP's Bansuri Swaraj and AAP's Somnath Bharti.
