Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023: Ahead of the state Assembly elections that are to be held later this year, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be launching the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Nyay Yojna (MGANY) in Bilaspur district. He is scheduled to make the announcement on Monday, September 25, 2023. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to rural households without proper housing.

During the “Awas Nyay Sammelan,” Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will distribute the first installment of Rs 25,000 each to 1,30,000 beneficiaries for housing construction. The event is scheduled for approximately 2 pm in Parsada (Sakri) village under the Takhatpur development block in Bilaspur district.

Out of the 1.30 lakh beneficiaries, 1 lakh are individuals listed on the permanent waitlist (PWL) under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY-rural) but have yet to benefit from the Central scheme. Additionally, Rs 5 crore will be transferred to the accounts of 500 beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Nirman Shramik Awas Sahayata Yojana (MNSASY), launched in May this year, which provides Rs 1 lakh assistance to registered construction workers for housing construction.

Gandhi and Baghel will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development and construction projects worth Rs 524.33 crore in Bilaspur district and distribute appointment letters to 2,594 newly recruited teachers.

The MGANY initiative offers financial aid from the Chhattisgarh government to homeless families excluded from the Socio-Economic Caste Census -2011 (SECC-2011) survey list. The Chhattisgarh State Socio-Economic Survey 2023 identified 10,76,545 homeless or kutcha house-dwelling families between April 1 and April 30 this year. Baghel announced the rural housing scheme in July, providing Rs 1.30 lakh assistance in remote areas and Rs 1.20 lakh in plain areas for housing construction.

This scheme also aims to benefit 6,99,439 eligible PMAY-rural beneficiaries on the permanent waitlist who were initially denied houses due to the Central government’s failure to allocate targets.
