A 21-year-old man was killed after a car driving on the wrong side of the road rammed into his bike on the Golf Course Road in Gurugram, Haryana.

The incident took place around 5.45 am when Akshat Garg, who hailed from Delhi, a traveller service associate, was heading for a ride with his friends. Just as he took a turn, he was mowed down by a Mahindra XUV.

His colleague and friend, Pradhuman Kumar, said that they were heading to Cyber Hub where their biker community meets before setting out for a ride. “We were riding side by side… Akshat then went ahead and took the side lane when a car from the wrong side collided with him,” Kumar told the Indian Express.

The crash was captured on a GoPro action camera mounted on his friend’s bike.

The video shows Akshat riding his bike wearing a helmet and gloves. As he approached the area near DLF Phase II Metro station, he turned slightly when suddenly a Mahindra XUV 3XO driving on the wrong side of the road appeared and crashed into him. The impact was such that he was thrown off his bike and landed behind the car.

According to reports, he could not be saved despite a rapid ambulance response.

Based on Pradhuman’s complaint, an FIR was registered on Sunday. The FIR was registered under BNS sections of rash and negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide, and under 281, 106(1), 324(4) and 166 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Gurgaon Police spokesperson, ASI Sandeep, said that the accused, identified as Kuldeep Kumar, who hails from Bihar’s Madhubani, was arrested the same day. Police were informed by the hospital that Garg had died due to injuries sustained in an accident.

Thakur who was apprehended was later released on bail, NDTV reported.
