rime Minister Narendra Modi reached the southern state of Karnataka on Friday and greeted people in Udupi in a grand roadshow. He will later visit the coastal state of Goa on Friday, and will take part in a number of religious activities in both states.
In both states, the PM will engage in religious celebrations marking some specific occasions.
Prime Minister Modi in Karnataka
PM Modi reached Udupi and here he visited Sri Krishna Matha. The PM took part in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana programme — a devotional gathering of 100,000 participants, including students, monks, scholars, and citizens from various walks of life, who will recite the Srimad Bhagavad Gita in unison.
Addressing people on the occasion, PM Modi said, “Shri Krishna delivered the sermons of the Gita on a battlefield. Bhagwat Gita teaches us that it is important to end the oppressor to restore peace and truth. This is the essence of the National Security policy… Earlier governments did not retaliate after terror attacks, par ye naya Bharat hai… We know how to establish peace, and also safeguard it.”
“Sri Vishvesha Teertha Swamiji’s guidance to the temple movement paved the way for the flag hoisting at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya,” he added.
The PM also inaugurated the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa, located in front of the Krishna sanctum, and dedicate the Kanaka Kavacha (golden cover) for the sacred Kanakana Kindi. It is a sacred window through which the saint Kanakadasa is believed to have had the divine darshan of Bhagwan Krishna.
Sri Krishna Matha, Udupi was established over 800 years ago by Sri Madhvacharya, the founder of the Dvaita philosophy of Vedanta.
PM Modi’s programmes in Goa
From Udupi, the PM will reach Goa in evening at around 3:15 pm. PM Modi will visit the Math at Canacona in South Goa, participating in the 550th-year celebration of the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math on the occasion of ‘Sardha Panchashatamanotsava’.
He will then unveil a 77 feet statue of Lord Ram, made up of bronze at Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math and will also inaugurate ‘Ramayana Theme Park Garden’ developed by the Math.
The Prime Minister will then release the special postal stamp and a commemorative coin, and address the gathering on the occasion.
According to the PMO, Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math is the first Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava Math. It follows the Dvaita order, a system established by Jagadguru Madhvacharya in the 13th century AD. The Math is headquartered in Partagali, a small town in South Goa, on the banks of the river Kushavati.
