Lok Sabha Election 2019: PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday hit out at the Congress for coining the term Hindu terror. Speaking in Gaya, Modi alleged the Congress came up with the term so that the probe on terror incidents are “not done thoroughly”. He added that top leaders of the party all term Hindus as “terrorists”.

Modi also spoke about the terror attacks before 2014 polls. “Till 2014, the country used to witness regular bomb blasts, whether it was Hyderabad, Ahmadabad, Kashi or Delhi, blasts used to take place often. Innocents would die. What happened after May 2014 that terrorists organisations got cold feet,” Modi said.

The PM also alleged that the party had even called him “chowkidaar of toilets”. “During Kumbh mela when I washed feet of sanitation workers, Congress leaders abused me”, he added. Pointing out the work that his government has done in the last five years, Modi said, “NDA has worked with honestly in a number of areas like, education of children, employment for youth, medicines for elders, irrigation by farmers”.

Earlier, speaking in Jamui, the PM had said that prices have increased everytime Congress has come to power. Speaking on other issues, he went on to say that whenever the party came to power, not only violence and terrorism surged, but also corruption and black money. Slamming Opposition parties he also added that while the entire world was praising India’s counter-terrorism operations, Opposition leaders were asking for proof.

Talking about Babasaheb Ambedkar, the PM also said that the Congress has insulted him like no other party has. He went on to say that those who follow the path of Babasaheb Ambedkar, willl never vote for Congress.

He also came down on the Congress and ruling BJD in Odisha, saying that both the parties have betrayed the poor forcing them to migrate to other states for livelihood.

“The Congress and BJD conspired to keep the poor, poor. They have betrayed them. People have been forced to migrate to other states for livelihood,” PM Modi said while addressing an election rally in Odisha’s Kalahandi.

Meanwhile, the Congress on Tuesday, released its Manifesto with a number of promises. Those who who were present on the occasion include Congress president Rahul Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former PM Manmohan Singh, P Chidambaram among others.

No nomination filed on first day in Rajasthan

No nominations were filed in Rajasthan on Tuesday, the first day for candidates to formally enter the fray in the Lok Sabha polls. The nomination process for the first phase to be held on April 29 for 13 constituencies started on Tuesday, but not a single candidate submitted their papers, state Chief Electoral Officer Anand Kumar said in a statement. Kumar said the last date for filing nomination is next Tuesday, following which scrutiny will be done and last date to withdraw nomination is next Friday.
