Reliance Industries is taking a big step in the artificial intelligence market, roping in two of Silicon Valley’s biggest names, Meta and Google, for partnerships. Making the announcement at its annual general meeting, RIL unveiled a joint venture with Meta worth about Rs 855 crore to develop AI solutions for businesses across sectors. The alliance will pair Meta’s open-source LLaMA models with Reliance’s industry reach and domain knowledge.
“Partnering with Meta brings our vision of providing AI to every Indian and enterprise to life. Together, we will democratise enterprise-grade AI for every Indian organisation,” RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani said about the JV.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, whose message was played at the AGM, said the venture is a way to build sovereign, enterprise-ready AI platforms designed for India’s scale and diversity. “Meta and Reliance are going to deliver our open-source AI models to Indian businesses to help them fuel their work,” he said.
Partnership with Google
RIL also announced a strategic collaboration with Google to build AI-ready data centres. Under this partnership, Google will provide computing power, RIL will ensure energy support through its clean energy push, and Reliance Jio will deliver connectivity. As part of the deal, Google will establish a Jamnagar Cloud region dedicated to Reliance businesses, powered by renewable energy and Jio’s digital backbone.
“The AI opportunity in India is extraordinary. It will transform every industry and organisation – from the largest enterprises to the smallest kirana store,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, while joining Reliance’s AGM virtually.
Jio Platforms IPO coming soon?
Ambani also announced at the AGM that Reliance is preparing to take its telecom and digital services arm, Jio Platforms, public by the first half of 2026. “This will demonstrate that Jio is capable of creating the same quantum of value as our global counterparts,” Ambani told shareholders.
Jio Chairman Akash Ambani told the shareholders at the AGM that the company is now one of the largest telecom operators globally as it has crossed 500 million customers.
