Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw has unveiled a 49-second video showcasing the Vande Bharat Express, designed for the upcoming Katra-Srinagar rail route, which will provide a vital connection between Jammu and the Kashmir valley. The video, shared on Vaishnaw’s X/Twitter account, offers a sneak peek into the state-of-the-art features of the train, which has been specially tailored to navigate Jammu & Kashmir’s harsh winter conditions.

Engineered for Extreme Weather

The new Vande Bharat Express for Jammu and Kashmir features advanced technology to tackle the region’s unique challenges. It includes heating systems to prevent freezing in water and bio-toilet tanks, air-brake systems for optimal performance in sub-zero temperatures, and added amenities like automatic plug doors, mobile charging sockets, and fully air-conditioned coaches for passenger comfort.

Travel Experience 

With the final safety inspection complete for the 111 km Banihal-Katra section, rail commuters can expect improved travel options later this year. Jammu station is being redeveloped with eight platforms and modern amenities.The completion of the Banihal-Katra section is an engineering feat, featuring a 97-kilometer-long tunnel and 7 kilometers covered by four major bridges.
