The Canadian immigration authority has invited foreign nationals to apply for permanent residency status. The results of the Express Entry lottery under the Healthcare and social services occupations category have been released by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
2,500 Express Entry invitations were issued to eligible foreign nationals on August 19. The lowest-ranked candidate received a CRS score of 470.
The date and time of the round was August 19, 2025 at 14:30:55 UTC, while the Tie-breaking rule date was April 23, 2025 at 20:08:53 UTC. This means the minimum Rank required to be invited to apply will be 2,500 or above.
The previous Express Entry draw under the Healthcare and social services occupations category was held on July 22, 2025 when 4,000 invites were sent with the CRS cut-off score set at 475.
If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
Healthcare and social services occupations category
An eligible foreign national is a member of the Healthcare and social services occupations category if they meet the following requirements:
At least six months of full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time work, in one of the occupations referred to in the table below. The experience has to be gained within the three years preceding the day on which the category was established, over a continuous period.
During that period of work experience, they would have performed the actions described in the lead statement for the occupation as set out in the occupational descriptions of the National Occupational Classification and performed a substantial number of the main duties of the occupation, including all of the essential duties.

Canada Express Entry program
Canada’s Express Entry program, a popular immigration pathway for foreigners seeking employment and permanent residence in the country, was modified in February 2025.
Canada Express Entry is a program for skilled immigrants seeking permanent residency in Canada, managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under various programs such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Provincial Nominee Program.
A new ‘education occupation category’ was introduced, and Canadian Experience Class stream candidates with working experience in Canada were given priority.
On March 25, 2025, Canada withdrew ‘job offer points’ from the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) in the Express Entry pool. This will apply to both current and future candidates. The removal of ‘job offer points’ from the Comprehensive Ranking System will not apply to all categories, but only to those that are classified under Major Group 00 of the National Occupation Classification (for example, senior management positions) (200 points) and to any other skilled occupation (50 points).
