Jupiter Wagons has received Rs 215 crore order for Vande Bharat wheelsets. As per the order details, Jupiter Wagons will supply 5,375 wheelsets for these trains, and the order includes 2,688 motor wheelsets and 2,688 trailer wheelsets. 

Jupiter Wagons said that the Rs 215 crore order for Vande Bharat trains further strengthens its presence in the rail components of passenger freight and high-speed rail space.

In an exchange filing, Jupiter Wagons stated that its subsidiary company, Jupiter Tatravagonka  Railwheels Factory, received the letter of Intent for the order for wheelsets on August 19.

Jupiter Wagons’ expansion plans

Jupiter Wagons is among the leading companies in the locomotive manufacturing space. The company manufactures from freight wagons, locomotives, bogies to wheelsets, braking systems and coach accessories. The company has manufacturing facilities located in Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Indore, Jabalpur, Aurangabad, and Bangalore.

In the wheelsets manufacturing space, Jupiter Wagons has a current capacity of manufacturing 20,000 wheels and axles per year. The company is investing Rs 2,500 crore to expand its production capacity, which will take its wheelsets production capacity to about 1 lakh per annum. 

The company said that its expansion projects are expected to be completed by 2027.

Jupiter Wagons said that it is also expanding its partnership with global companies in the locomotive manufacturing sector. The company has partnered with leading global companies like Tatravagonka of Slovakia,  DAKO  of the Czech Republic, Kovis of  Slovenia, and Talleres Alegria of Spain.
