Torrent Gas has reduced the retail price of CNG by up to Rs 3.50 per kg and has also cut down the price of domestic PNG by up to Rs 2 per standard cubic metre (SCM) across its operational areas connected to the National Gas Grid.
The price cut follows the implementation of the Unified Tariff Order by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), which came into effect on January 1.
CNG now up to 43% cheaper than petrol
Torrent Gas, part of Torrent Group, said that with the latest revision, CNG will become up to 43% cheaper compared to petrol, offering significant savings for vehicle owners.
The company said the move will provide relief to households using PNG for cooking and to consumers running vehicles on CNG. “This reduction in CNG and PNG prices will bring great relief to households using it as cooking fuel and to CNG vehicle owners by reducing household expenses for the common man,” Torrent Gas said in a statement. .
What is PNGRB tariff order?
PNGRB has introduced the Unified Tariff framework, which consolidates three gas transportation zones into two, applying a uniform Zone-1 tariff of Rs 54 per million British thermal unit for the domestic PNG and CNG transportation segments nationwide.
“Torrent Gas has always been at the forefront of passing on the benefits of lower costs to its customers,” the company said.
The company noted that the new structure has lowered gas transportation costs
Boost expected for PNG connections, CNG vehicles
The company believes the price cut, along with PNGRB’s nationwide campaign to promote natural gas usage, will encourage more households to opt for new PNG connections. It is also expected to support higher adoption of CNG vehicles across passenger and commercial segments.
Torrent Gas added that it continues to invest in CGD infrastructure and consumer awareness to promote natural gas as an economical and environmentally friendly fuel.
Complying with the same order, Adani Total Gas has also reduced the prices of piped CNG and natural gas by Rs 4 per kg/ SCM.
