Domestic contract manufacturer Dixon Technologies on Friday partnered with Dassault Systemes to streamline its manufacturing processes, enhance quality control and improve production output.
Dixon will access technology solutions from Dassault such as DELMIA Apriso applications as part of the partnership. It will help the electronics contract manufacturer get data-driven insights in its operations, control leakages and catch misalignment in products real-time, reduce time-to-market products and enhance customer satisfaction.
The partnership is key for Dixon, since manufacturing facilities globally are adopting digital and automated processes to improve their efficiency and product quality. The same will also help Dixon to reduce its production cost and improve its bottom line.
The two companies did not disclose the financial details of the partnership.
“In smartphones, when we started, we were at a productivity level of 220 (units) per hour. We feel through this digital transformation journey, automation, and robotics, we should be able to increase it to 350-400 per hour. So, you can imagine how the production cost will go down,” said Atul B Lall, vice chairman and managing director of Dixon Technologies during a press briefing.
“The seamless integration of DELMIA Apriso into our manufacturing processes will enable us to further optimise our operations, drive innovation and deliver even greater value to our clients,” Lall added.
Dixon makes smartphones and feature phones for companies such as Xiaomi, Samsung, Motorola, Jio, among others at its four plants in Noida. The company also makes home appliances, televisions, telecom products and lighting products. Dixon has a capacity of manufacturing 30 million smartphones and 50 million feature phones annually.
Deepak NG, managing director at Dassault Systèmes India, said, “DELMIA Apriso empowers manufacturers like Dixon Technologies to optimise their global manufacturing operations, drive efficiency and accelerate innovation, all while ensuring the highest quality standards”.
According to Dassault, the partnership will change the way products are designed, produced and delivered to markets around the world.
