The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has issued an alert against 58 samples of commonly used medicines as they failed the latest drug safety alert issued by the drug regulator in March.
In its monthly list, as seen by Financial Express.com, the CDSCO has flagged the medicines that have failed the quality parameters in February out of the total of 1,167 samples. According to the list, 1,018 drug samples have been declared as of Standard Quality. Meanwhile, 2 samples have been declared spurious.
The drug regulator has flagged commonly used drugs like Amoxycillin, Vitamin D3 tablets, Ofloxacin, Heparin, Clarithromycin, Paracetamol, Oseltamivir, Deferasirox, Pantoprazole Gastroresistant Tablets, Telmisartan etc.
According to the list, some of the major companies whose samples have been flagged include Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Micro Labs, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Glenmark Lifesciences, and Alkem Laboratories.
It is noteworthy that disintegration, stability, uniformity of dispersion, assay, and dissolution and some of the stated reasons of failure by the drug regulator.
